Leave a Footprint is very proud to support the Special Olympics

Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to more than 5.3 million athletes and Unified Sports partners in nearly 170 countries.

Special Olympics competitions are held every day, all around the world—including local, national and regional competitions, adding up to more than 108,000 events a year.

These competitions include the Special Olympics World Games, which alternate between summer and winter games. Special Olympics World Games are held every two years. The most recent World Summer Games were the Special Olympics World Summer Games, held in Los Angeles California (The largest event in LA since the 1984 Olympic Games).

Leave a Footprint is very proud to support this great organization. In 2017 we organized an event on the Islands of Nevis. This became a day to remember as Special Olympic Athletes along with their coaches, local runners  and our cruise runners joined in for a 5k run and 300 meter open water swim. Moving forward our 2017 run cruise has us now supporting Special Olympics on the Islands of Nevis, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Barbados,Aruba,Bonaire and Curacao. With the support of The Special Olympic committees on the Islands we now have events that allow us to run/swim together with Special Olympic Athletes their coaches, local runners and you our cruise runners.

As more and more runners, walkers and just active people join our cruise family the more funds we are able to give back to Special Olympics. These funds are generated through our registration fee. More important than this  is the awareness that we are bringing to these amazing athletes who like all of us have the ambition to always strive for more.
